The book is similar in that way, a lot of it is told from Penelopé’s perspective. I just finished a re-read yesterday and it was thrilling. But yes, Pen and Colin did not get a huge amount of screen time together in these 4 episodes so far. I am sure that will change in part 2.
I didn’t fully believe Cressida about not being the one to spread the gossip. She had already sabotaged Penelope once that very evening!
I’ll say it again. I don’t understand why Penn needs to tell Colin “if she truly loves him”.
I’m ready!
Welp that was a letdown. They should have just released all episodes at once or maybe 2 a week (ala Disney+).
The mirror scene was steamy but what a letdown to seasons 1 & 2 that there wasn’t anything else except the brother’s threesome scene. I found it long and boring.
Now that Lady W has been outed, I wonder if next season we will move away from the Bridgerton clan and the ton to Scotland to concentrate on Eloise. I am not sure about the gender swap of Michael to Michaela.
I did feel a bit sorry for Cresenda. I mean to be first matched with a guy old enough to be her grandfather and then to be sent away to the country with a crappy aunt. She is not that clever with her scheming.
Well that’s that for now. I saw online we won’t be getting a new season for 2 years.
Is there anything else to watch now??!??!
What a disappointing season 3 ended up being.
It had its moments but I do think it suffered for being split up into two parts.
Also I just didn’t like the Lady Whistledown drama, and I felt that was the primary focus of the season, rather than the relationships.
While I agree that it was silly to break it into 2 parts, I really enjoyed this season.
Perhaps I’m alone on this bench, ahem, settee, but I loved seeing Penelope come into her own and more about her bonding with her Featherington family instead of eschewing them in favor of the Bridgertons. Portia can come off as cold and ruthless but she does love her daughters. I liked the closeness I saw between the four women by the end of the season.
I loved that it was the queen who outed Pen as LW and gave her the royal stamp of approval with her grudging respect. I didn’t mind the LW focus because LW is Pen and Pen is LW as Colin comes to realize. And of course Lady Danbury knew all along. I’m glad Agatha made up with her brother and finding out her real name, Soma, and that Violet and Agatha acknowledged Agatha’s past relationship with Violet’s father. The camera drawing back on their scene to show the birthday hat was so well-done.
The mirror scene was as well-done as the carriage scene and again, I love the friendship that has caught fire pairing as you can’t have the burning and bickering that were S1 and S2, respectively, for every couple. It wouldn’t be realistic even if this show is a lot of fantasy. That they can laugh and be sexy at the same time is so much more true to life. I also love that it’s Pen who encourages Colin to go after his dreams of being a writer and making a mark that is different from his older brothers.
I’m finding the introduction of Michaela intriguing although I hope we don’t see Francesca cheating on John. I’ve only read the Colin/Pen book and not quite finished so not sure how things play out in the book.
The show, as it has every season (pun intended), always leaves me wanting more and I’m going to regret having binged the second half in one sitting, I think. If nothing else, it’s a fun, sometimes fluffy show, with a great cast, gorgeous settings and costumes, moments that have moved me, and music I have listened to more times than I care to share.
Queen Charlotte is still my favorite of the franchise as nothing will top her moments with King George under the bed in the series finale scene.
So some of my overall thoughts on Season 3…
- An enemies to lovers plot that has a slow burn of dislike throughout it is one thing but a friends to lovers plot shouldn’t have the main couple mad at each other for quite so much. I feel like the gap was long enough that as viewers you didn’t remember as much of the first half of nice moments so instead you go angsty angry Colin and sad nervous looking Penelope.
- For a buildup of the Queen wanting to kill Lady Whistledown to “let’s all celebrate Whistledown” was too much too soon.
- The first half it seemed like they were building to a plot with the Mondriches only for it to basically disappear the second half.
- I loved Francesca explaining to Violet that not all love has to be fireworks and all that - but then by her having her firework moment after her wedding while looking at Michaela, it seemed to undermine that.
- Way too much time spent on Cressida.
- I thought the solicitor coming after Portia was going to end with Penelope paying back those her mom and cousin had stolen from - instead that was another plot that went nowhere and Penelope’s money instead went to the ugliest ball ever.
That’s what I thought too!
I’d love another Queen Charlotte as a way to flush out the stories of the older generation and give those plots a chance to breathe. Also the chemistry between the actors sizzled.
I would love one centred on Lady Danbury. I know we did get some of that in Queen Charlotte, but I feel like we have only seen the tip of the iceberg.
And, I feel like they could easily do a season on Violet as well.
Yes!! I want to know about her family, her kids, her life after that gross husband of hers died.
Season 3 coming in 2026. I can’t wait! ![]()
Do we have a date? I have been #adulting and haven’t seen any promotional material out.
I think it’s just “early 2026” so far.
Season 4! ![]()
