The SVU premiere was much better than I expected - it was nice to see the courtroom again and have trial scenes, Carisi was used very well, and it was nice to have a full squad of investigators involved and not just Benson. If SVU keeps up having episodes like this it would be a decent show.
SVU was surprisingly decent again last night - nice to see back to back court heavy episodes where Carisi was used really well and the legal stuff was pretty solid. The case didnāt have any twists other than the wife knowing all along her husband was scum, she was just as bad as he was. But it was decent enough and Benson was tolerable - SVU has been better than I expected in its first 2 episodes this season after an awful season 25, and they havenāt had any personal melodrama.
Shhhh at the last line. If you say it out loud, you may jinx it!
LOL yeah Iām not overly optimistic about SVU but at least itās off to a decent start, I was expecting it to be awful, last season had some episodes that were damn near unwatchable.
After 3 decent stories to start the season SVU was back to garbage last night with a soapy slog of an episode. Extremely boring and overly convoluted case with the typical Benson worship plus Carisi taking things way too personally made for a weak episode. Plus no Bruno for the second week in a row sucked.
This weekās SVU was one of the most predictable ever - they tried to make it a mystery but it was dead obvious what happened from the beginning. And Benson the perfect victim whisperer at the hospital was just nauseating - theyāve turned Benson into such an over the top joke. At least Bruno got good scenes and the new detective Silva looks like sheāll fit in well - sheās much more likable than the other young females theyāve had lately.
Was this the episode where Benson hugged the young woman that was sextorted and promised she would get her money back? Good God. I thought I was watching a Hallmark movie.
No the episode I just posted about was about the woman attacked at the campground.
But I completely agree about the sextortion episode, and I feel in general that SVU has become a shell of itself, it feels like a Hallmark version of what the show used to be, with St Olivia saving the day every time and giving āupliftingā speeches and people thanking her and telling her how great she is - itās cheesy and cliched. And the blame for this is 100% Mariska Hargitayās fault - this crap started when she became a producer and basically the showrunner, thanks to her influence, SVU has become the St Olivia saves the day hour of melodrama.
Good episode tonight - Bruno and Fin were awesome and I loved seeing them investigating a rape with minimal involvement from St Olivia and getting most of the glory of closing the case. Bruno and Fin are the best part of modern day SVU so the more of them the better!
Iāve seen a promo pic showing that Tony Goldwyn/Nick Baxter is crossing over for an appearance on SVU, heās meeting Carisi and Benson in a garage. Should be interesting, Iām glad Baxter is continuing the tradition of the DA crossing over to SVU, as the first 4 L&O DAs have all appeared on SVU.
Good episode tonight, nice to see a strong case with the whole squad involved, Bruno and Silva were particularly good, I love Bruno and theyāve finally got a strong younger female cop in Silva after failing epically in writing younger female cops in the past. It was nice to see Tony Goldwyn crossover as Baxter but it seemed like an unusually long rigamarole to get the case against the mentally challenged guy dismissed - it was obvious he was incapable of understanding what was going on so I wasnāt sure what the hoopla was about and it felt like they were making Carisi look too stubborn just so St Olivia could save the day. I did love Baxter calling St O a pain in the ass.
Good episode tonight - I really liked Carisi in court again, theyāve had good legal stuff and courtroom scenes this season, itās improved the show. He was really the star again tonight. Good investigation and decent case. Of course the usual portrayal of St O as a holy figure and beacon of light and wisdom drags things down some, but SVU has taken a big step forward this year after the shitshow of last year.
What an absolutely boring melodramatic slog of an episode. Only good parts were Fin and Bruno who were awesome as always. Way too much Benson the heroic victim whisperer.
Itās been so long since Iāve watched Law & Order: SVU that I donāt recognize anyone besides Mariska and Ice T!!!
I was compelled to watch again as Stacey Farber (Degrassi) is going to guest star on this episode but I had the dates wrong (I can watch her episode tomorrow).
Watching S26:E17, comatose woman is pregnant and they have to establish paternity.
Good episode tonight, Bruno was awesome, heās the best thing to happen to SVU in ages, so glad heās a regular. Nice to see someone other than St Olivia help out a victim. Case was somewhat predictable but a solid investigation
This wasnāt a good start for SVU, and I canāt believe they had Cragen die offscreen - why kill him off? He was great and the actor is still around. At least we got to see Huang and Cassidy again at his memorial, nice that they popped in to pay their respects. But the case felt like an hour of Benson worship with other stuff in the background, not a good start, Iām afraid weāre back to the nonstop over the top St O worship that has dragged down SVU before being dialed back to mostly manageable levels last season.
I liked seeing Baxter make a cameo on SVU last night, and it was interesting seeing Carisi channel McCoy in trying to āmake new lawā and the judge setting aside the jury verdict.
This weekās episode got better as it went along - good twist that the author was recruiting girls for her husband to assault I didnāt see it coming that she would be such a nasty villain. Carisi is shining in court this season, I love that SVU is finally utilizing the legal stuff. Nice cameos by Baxter and Price too.
