Anyone wanna start a book club?
I would be down for that.
Ooh, that sounds good!
Sixteen Candles is a book that I read as a teen and had been on my mind for DAYS, I couldn’t remember the title but I kept thinking it was a Christopher Pike novel, not a Nicholas PINE. I’m so glad to have finally figured it out- thank you google.
YA horror was super popular at the turn of the millennium for millennials, Gen z had a lot of dystopian fiction.
So I finally got around to reading The Hunger Ganes prequel, Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes, and saw the movie during my airport time this month.
It got me back into the fandom and I’m re-reading the OG trilogy with my friend’s 11yrs old daughter as she wanted to read them.
Looking forward to reading the new prequel and the film next year, Sunrise on the Reaping.
I am a huge fan of detective fiction/whodunit mysteries - particularly from what’s called the “golden age” - I love authors such as John Dickson Carr, Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen etc. Been reading a lot of it lately - went through several of the early classic Ellery Queen books, my favorites were Greek Coffin Mystery, Dutch Shoe Mystery and French Powder Mystery. Now I’m reading Carr’s very first novel, It Walks By Night, about a decapitation in a Paris gambling house.
Sure. I am trying to get back into reading.
Since May I have re-read the OG Hunger Games Trilogy, I was inspired after reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, waited 9 weeks at the library for Sunrise on the Reaping.
(the newest Hunger Games prequel, about Haymitch’s games)
When I was 23 I knew why Haymitch was drinking himself to death, but at 40 it hits differently.
It was worthwhile. I’m now ready for the movie. I might see that one in theaters.
Maya Hawk, Elle Fanning, Billy Porter, Glenn Close are confirmed.
Kieran Culkan as a young Ceaser Flickerman and Jessie Plemons as a young Plutarch.
Keifer Sutherland was offered the role of middled aged President Snow but politely declined (understandable). Ralph Fiennes took it.
I decided to sit down and read The Testaments to prepare for the new series in April. Yeah I know I’m putting myself through it, but I think she has something important to say.
