My Life with the Walter Boys

When a tragedy disrupts her life, a teenager moves in with her guardian’s big family in a small town and learns lessons about love, hope and friendship.

This show was renewed for a second season, I finally got around to watching Season 1. It’s based on a YA novel, and I thought all the young actors did an amazing job. The CO scenerie is gorgeous and the kids were complex while still being actual kids and non mini adults.

However, I just cannot see guardians being okay with their ward (who’s gone through significant trauma losing her entire family) DATING one of their sons who lives full time in the house with her. Look I get teenagers who didn’t grow up together have flirtations and attractions, but that’s just ripe for drama at the very best, coercion at the very worst. Same reason why foster siblings aren’t supposed to date/be romantically involved, the power dynamic is too great

Season 2 airs on Netflix August 28th.

I needed something emotionally easy after all the dystopian fiction that felt too much like reality these days.

Why does Jackie like Cole again? He’s behaving much better than last season, but Alex seems more suited to her personality. I just can’t get behind this brother swapping, in my cultural group your family member’s ex is HANDS OFF (same with your parents besties kids- you guys are COUSINS!). Erin was with Cole for years, and I’m so glad that’s over but now she’s with his twin?!!! I know the town is small but are there no other boys than the ones in the Walter family?!!

This was cute as usual, but you know you’re middled aged when you wonder how the parents are okay with their ward dating one of their sons!!
