A place to discuss the 2022 Apple TV series based on the 2017 novel by Ming Jin Lee.
The series was renewed for a second season in April 2022, a released date has not been confirmed.
Is this where we discuss the fine as hell Li Min-ho?
Even if his Hansu was such an ass.
Yes it is!
Li Ming-Ho is playing the hell out of the part, I HATE Hansu, but I love him on my screen!
One of the best books Iāve ever readā¦and where I learned to make my new breakfast favorite, panjeon.
When I read the book I GASP out loud on the train home from work, and the woman next to me said āgood huh?!!! What are you reading?ā(kindle) so I told her.
Season 2 airs August 23rd!!
My Mom and I reached Season 1 last weekend to prepare. Whoās excited??

I just put a hold on the book for this series even though I donāt have access to AppleTV just based on yāallās excitement for the series, lol.
What does Apple TV offer that would lean me towards subscribing? I have heard of that Jennifer Anniston show but not much else. I probably need to find the right thread for this question, if a mod would lead me there (or anyone).
Hi! You will LOVE the book without a doubt.
As far as Apple TV goes, I get a free subscription with my new Apple device. My mom watches more of it than I do, but things shes liked have been Ted Lasso, Franklin, Lessons in Chemistry, Dickinson.
I would read Pachinko, wait and then binge the series.
I am going to look into Apple thanks to the your post.
Got Pachinko hold available notice this morning, downloaded it to Kindle, and heading to the club pool to start reading.
The child actor playing Mosazu got his spirit down pat! He was very good.
I knew Hansu would show up eventually, I hate his guts but that the least he could do for Sunja and her boys. How dare he insult Isak- Isak is in prison because he was trying to help people, heās inspired more loyalty than Hansu ever did.
I agree with Hansu that they need to leave for the country. She canāt help Isak while heās in prison, sheās got to keep her self and her sons safe. He would want them to go!
Itās clear to all of us that Hansu has done good things (primarily saving Sunjaās Mom and Joseph), but he IS NOT a good person. Sunja does not belong to do you dude, 1. You mislead her and abandoned her, 2. Noa was ashamed to see him beat that man (I think that guy was the one who burned up the rice).
Joseph is not going to be an easy man to live with, PTSD, physical pain, and emotional trauma of living with a scared face has changed him. Itās clear Kim is still in love with Kyunghee , and she feels something for him too- do you think they are having an affair?!! With Joseph hiding in his room and them living in such close quarters I wouldnt be surprised.
We only have two episodes left, Iād love to get more of tween Mozau and how he is so different than Noa in temperament.
So I fully admit I MISSED that Kunghyee and Kim had sex in the forest the evening of the bombing!! (I may have been getting my Mom a beverage and Iām used to more explicit scenes in USA series, and I know this is a Korean series)
Hansuās father in law is dumb as fuck, did he really think a man like Hansu, who is his gangster son in law and murders people, would stand for being BANNED from his own daughterās wedding? Did he think he would tolerate the public racism and disrespect? I was scared for him the day he said āhe is willing to accept her (the granddaughter) although sheās a half bloodā, itās not as if the girl was badly in love with the guy and Hansu was going along with it to make his daughter happy.
Noa is smitten by that activist, and I donāt know how the season will end, but I donāt see Kim surviving the Korean War and I am broken hearted we donāt have a season 3 confirmed and even if we did we have to wait two years!
What a powerful way to end the season!
I am crossing all of my appendages for a renewal, but I think the scenes that touch me most were of Sunja and her friend. I think if he had said āand Iāve been haunted with regret the rest of my lifeā, she wouldāve kept seeing him. But the fact that he āforgotā the pain he caused others, meant she couldnāt keep him in her life. Itās so sad as I loved them together.
